UPDATE: Lil Peep Overdose expected to be Fentanyl
On November 15, rapper Lil Peep was found dead on his tour bus by manager Chase Ortega, surrounded by drug paraphernalia. Videos posted by the rapper before his untimely death originally led fans to believe the rapper, whose real name is Gustav Ahr, died of a Xanax overdose. Law Enforcement sources close to the situation are now suggesting that Fentanyl is to blame instead. Tuscon cops are investigating the situation further, noting that it will be 6-8 weeks before the toxicology report comes back.
Fentanyl is a powerful pharmaceuitcal increasingly used to mix with illegal narcoitcs, or to make fake pills. Fentanyl deaths have more than Quadrupled since 2013, infamously involved in the untimely demise of singer Prince in April 2016.
Lil Peep is mourned by family and friends alike around the globe. A memorial service will be held in the rapper’s hometown of Long Beach, NY on Saturday.
